Hi all, I'm intending to start a basic 'hands on' course for cyclists who would like to learn the basic mechanical skills needed to get them home, should they get a puncture, slipped/broken chain or even a snapped gear cable.
The idea is to give everyone the confidence to head out on their bike, knowing that they should be able to deal with any of the more common issues that we face as cyclists.
I would run a series of small workshops, in an outdoor setting (with gazebo for weather protection!) and I would try to keep the numbers to a maximum of 10 people, per session, of approximately one hour.
The cost would be £10 or £20 per session, depending on duration and content, and I'm hoping to be able to run them in the Barns Green, Shipley or Dragon's Green area.
I will break the various elements up into separate sessions, (Wheels and tyres, Gears, drivetrain and brakes) so the full course may be two or three sessions.
There would be plenty of opportunity to try things out on your own bike
I'm currently trying to gauge the level of interest in the idea, so please let me know if you think it would be useful for you and I'll keep you up to date with any developments..!
All the best, Dave
